Laura Mercier = Natural Beauty

Published by sydneyh at 7:51 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I’ve always admired the Laura Mercier makeup line for its simplicity, and professional look.  It never gives you too much color (for those of you who are shying away from the “I’m a teenager” look), or too little (if I wanted to look like I wasn’t wearing makeup I just wouldn’t wear any!).  Even their green eyeliner blends in with the rest of your makeup and instead of popping out and saying “I’m ready for the rave!”.  It lets you stray from usual colors but still feel like a grown up doing it.  In honer of this beautiful makeup I decided to do a review on one product for each part of your face (face, eyes, eyebrows, etc.).

1.  Mineral Powder SPF 15

I want to warn you right off the bat to wear a good primer with this because if you don’t you’ll go from looking flawless (right when you put it on) to looking cakey.  A good primer will fix this, also using oil blotting sheets regularly if you have oily skin (buy your oil blotting sheets at eyeslipsface.com for good quality that cost $1).  This powder blends into skin well (no yellow hues!), looks natural, works as both foundation and powder, and gives you sun protection.  What more can you ask for?  Cost $35.

2.  Limited Edition Eye Mosaic in Sahara Sun

There are two Limited Edition Eye Mosaic pallettes that Laura Mercier is selling right now, but I stepped outside my usual array of the more noticeable colors and opted for the one that has pinks and browns instead of blues and browns (the one with blue and brown eyeshadow is called “Mediterranean Sun”).  These colors give a really natural look, a little bit too natural for me (but that’s just because of my personal taste), it does look fabulous though.  Cost $35 at Sephora.

3.  Kohl Eye Pencil in Antique Jade

This eyeliner applies smoothly, and I love the dark green color which is a good substitute for for black without going too far from it.  Brings out brown eyes nicely.  Cost $19.

4.  Thickening And Building Mascara (only comes in black)

This is probably the most impressive thing I have tried from Laura Mercier so far.  I’m really in love with this mascara.  It does exactly what it says.  If you only buy one thing from Laura Mercier, make sure that it is this.  Cost $20 at Sephora.

5.  Eyebrow Pencil (match according to your hair color)

Before you put this, or any eyebrow pencil, on make sure you apply eyebrow gel (I recommend e.l.f’s for $1, it works as good as any expensive brand).  I think Laura Mercier did a good job of picking colors that look natural on eyebrows, and not like you obviously colored them in.  They also have an excellent range of colors to pick from (they have three different kinds of browns).  Buy at Sephora for $19.

6.  Lip Velvet (liquid lipstick) in Naked Rose

This product will last you a long time, because a little goes a long way.  It’s a nice alternative to regular lipstick, and it’s more moisturizing than regular lipstick.  One application  last for a good bit, and doesn’t fade in a tacky way.  Buy at Sephora for $22.
